Like every year, after a cold winter follows a go'old bunch of sunny festivals.
These are my highlights for the next few months. Click on the link to go to the official site, browse the band myspace and enjoy a few tracks on the music widget.
Melbourne Festival.
11-27 October. This is probably one of the most interesting ones if you have already left your mid-twenties behind. This year we´ll have the Polyphonic Spree, The Cinematic Orchestra, Steve Mason (from the awesome Beta Band) and cult band (ta-chan!) Yo la Tengo.
I’ll Be Your Mirror Melbourne
In mid February. Small festival that claims to go against the grain of larger commercial festivals, with better sound and good organisation. Lasdt year we had My bloody Valentine, Godspeed You! Black Emperor and the Drones. This year´s line up is still to be announced.
Falls Festival.
28 December in Lorne VIC and 29 in Marion Bay TAS. It´s sold out but there´s always a chance to get tickets closer to the date. The line up is awesome and includes artists like The Roots, NY fellas Vampire Weekend, The Wombats, Chk chk chk (!!!), the War on Drugs and Violent Femmes. Yup, impressive...

Harvest.
Sunday 10 November 2012. Massive Attack, Desaparecidos (post-something band from Bright Eyes´front man Connor Oberst), CSS (Cansei de Ser Sexy), classic vintage Black Rebel Mortorcycle Club (yeah!), Neutral Mil Hotel and Primus. Pretty awesome, mate!

Big Day Out.
24 January, right after a good Christmas meal. This year I´m not too impressed but Arcade Fire, Blur, Mudhoney and Pearl Jam will be worth the ticket. My two cents: In your 20s is great, but if you are in your 30s, better head to the sideshows if you would rather enjoy a couple of good concerts and a better crowd.
For the real feel of Big Day Out, listen to the crime-remix below and a full-stream of a Pearl Jam concert. Still lots of fun!

Soundwave.
28 February 2014. A lot of distorted guitars in this one, but heaps of fun bands amongst the line-up, Greenday, Avenged Sevenfold, Korn, Placebo and Alkaline Trio. It is a punk lover´s dream. At my age, I would probably save myself for the sideshows, but don´t let me stop you: This year´s line-up is amazing!
Laneway Festival.
Sunday 1 February 2014 at Footscray. The Line up will be announced soon but it´s always a good one. It normally walks away from the mainstream and throws a few fresh bands into the line-up. It´s getting bigger and bigger every year, so better to go now before it is too late!

[Update] Line up announced with pretty cool bands such as Four Tet, Lorde, CHVRCHES and Daughter.
Future Music
Sunday 9 March 2014 at Flemington Racecourse.
Pretty good line up including Pharrel, Bloc Party, Phoenix and legend Eric Prydz. This is going to be a lot of fun and it still gives you enough time to recover from the Summer Festival mayhem.
Remember to stay tuned for more news over the next couple of weeks.
Thanks for reading.
