Some may have
not heard of Richard Hawley before this, but it is one of these artists that is
definitely worth loading on the iPod before a road trip. The Englishman is
well-known for this contribution to big names such as Pulp, the Arctic Monkeys,
and some other great bands of the UK music scene.
At the Hi-Fi
there was a mixed crowd: a few young fellas, middle-aged couples, and the usual
reviewers. The tone of the night was very relaxed: no security barrier for the
photographer´s pit, a few mid-forties slowly sipping their beers, however the venue
was full.
I couldn´t stay
too long but I had the chance to listen to a few of the tracks of the new album
and they really sound great live. The guitar went a bit dark and fuzzy in a couple
of pretty nice solos and Richard expressed his gratitude to the audience after
the first two songs.
It was an
easy-to-listen, mellow show, nothing too extraordinary but still nice to get a
feel of what´s going on across the sea, outside the major summer festivals.
Thanks for
reading.
